Words You Never Heard!

Feb 20, 2018

South African vocal group, Ladysmith Black Mambazo won their fifth Grammy for Best World Music Album at the 60th annual Grammy awards in January.  The album Shaka Zulu Revisited celebrates the 30th anniversary of their first Grammy-winning album produced by Paul Simon following their appearance on Simon’s Graceland. In all, Ladysmith Black Mambazo has 19 Grammy nominations, an Academy Awards nomination, and an Emmy Awards nomination!

Words You Never Heard has a special connection to the latest Grammy award-winning album by Ladysmith Black Mambazo as my producer Martin Walters mixed and mastered the record.  Martin has been working with the group as their recording engineer for over 10 years.

Zulu is the language of Ladysmith Black Mambazo.  The word Zulu means heavens or sky, and Zulu is the most widely spoken native language in South Africa.  While accepting their latest Grammy, members of the group graciously said Ngiyabonga which means Thank you!
